Overview:
Upgrades deliver new features and functionality to the Fusion application. They are part of the standard maintenance on our Fusion environments, and help us ensure a stable and reliable Applications Cloud service. Upgrading the application allows us to maintain consistent code levels.

Oracle provide upgrades approximately once in a year. There is a four-to-six months upgrade window to allow us the flexibility to schedule the upgrade at a time that is convenient for us.
The Release 12 upgrade program begins from mid of April 2017, and runs for approximately 6 months i.e. till October 2017. The estimated outage time for the upgrade is 48-60 hours, but the actual time can vary depending on the amount of data in the environment. If the environment has any language packs installed, the upgrade time will be extended by approximately 30 minutes for each language pack.

How to Schedule Your Upgrade:
We have to schedule an upgrade for each environment (production, test, development etc.) separately. This means we will have to repeat the process described here for all environments that are being upgraded.

Sign in to Oracle Cloud My Services website for the identity domain (environment) to be upgraded by specifying the data centre on the Oracle Cloud Portal, then clicking My Services. Login as the service administrator for the identity domain to upgrade.
Select Schedule Maintenance from the Action menu in the service listing in the Dashboard page, then choose Release 12 Upgrade.
Read and accept the Terms and Conditions, and click Next.
Choose from an available upgrade date.
Enter your name and contact information. Click Submit Request.
